Sri Lanka Police has announced a coordinated traffic management plan for Colombo spanning September 8–10 to accommodate Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's official three-day visit to the country.
Sri Lanka Police will enforce temporary traffic restrictions and diversions across Colombo from September 8 to 10 to facilitate the movement of Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's motorcade during his scheduled official visit. The restrictions will be applied intermittently at specific times corresponding to the minister's planned itinerary, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes where possible and to cooperate with deployed officers.
According to the announced traffic plan, restrictions will begin on Tuesday, September 8 at 1:30 p.m. along routes from Bandaranaike International Airport through the Katunayake–Colombo Expressway and Port premises to Hotel Taj Samudra, where the minister will be accommodated. Additional restrictions are scheduled for 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. the same evening covering the route between the hotel and the Indian High Commission.
On Wednesday, September 9, traffic management measures will be in place from 9:50 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. for the minister's journey to and from the Presidential Secretariat, with further restrictions from 2 p.m. onwards for additional scheduled movements and a brief 7 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. window for another planned activity. The final day will see restrictions on Thursday, September 10 from 9 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. during the minister's departure.
