Speaking at the "Dr. Sujatha Attanayake Pranama" tribute event, held on July 28 at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation's Kumaratunga Munidasa Studio, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of artistic contributions in shaping national identity.
According to the Prime Minister, a nation's cultural memory extends beyond historical records to encompass the creative works and memories that resonate within its people. She characterised artists whose legacies endure as architects of cultural identity, emphasising that meaningful artistic works cannot be built on foundations of division or exclusion.
The Prime Minister underscored Dr. Attanayake's lifelong commitment to using art as a unifying force. She stated that through her artistic endeavours and humanitarian outlook, Dr. Attanayake has demonstrated the transformative power of culture in bringing communities together.
