Sri Lanka will launch its first FinTech Festival in November 2026, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and innovators to strengthen the country's position in regional digital finance.
Sri Lanka's inaugural FinTech Festival will take place on November 2-3, 2026 at Shangri-La Colombo, according to an announcement made by Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratna. The two-day event is being organized by the Fintech Forum Sri Lanka in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy to provide a platform for showcasing the nation's digital finance capabilities and connecting local stakeholders with regional and international developments.
The festival will operate around four central themes: the future of fintech, building unicorns and modernization, sustainable and inclusive fintech, and security and fraud prevention. Discussions will encompass topics such as digital assets, cross-border payments, artificial intelligence in finance, financial inclusion and digital identity solutions. The program aims to explore how technology, policy and regulation can contribute to building a more competitive and secure digital finance ecosystem.
The event will unfold in stages, beginning with an invitation-only CEOs Night gathering banking and fintech leaders alongside government and Central Bank representatives. The following day will feature the main FinTech Expo, which organizers anticipate will draw over 500 participants for keynote speeches, panel discussions and an exhibition where businesses can showcase their solutions. The festival will conclude with a networking reception for participants and invited guests.
Organizers position the festival as an opportunity for industry stakeholders to gain insights into emerging technologies and market trends, while providing policymakers and regulators a forum to engage with industry perspectives and explore digital finance's future direction. The festival is intended to demonstrate Sri Lanka's existing digital finance infrastructure and readiness to participate in the next phase of financial innovation while enhancing the country's visibility within the rapidly evolving regional and global fintech landscape.
