Officials from the Sri Lanka–Japan Friendship Association met with the Secretary to the President to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and explore avenues for expanded humanitarian assistance.

A delegation led by Inoue Naoki, President of the Sri Lanka–Japan Friendship Association, held discussions with Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on August 12. The meeting centered on deepening the established partnership between Sri Lanka and Japan across various sectors of mutual interest.

During the engagement, Association President Naoki highlighted the organization's recent contribution of three ambulances to the North Western Provincial Council. He indicated that the Association remains committed to extending additional support to Sri Lanka whenever needed, signaling an intention to expand the scope of collaborative initiatives between the two nations.

Secretary to the President Dr. Kumanayake acknowledged the Association's contributions, emphasizing the value of such partnerships in consolidating the historical friendship between the two countries. The meeting was attended by Senior Assistant Secretary to the President Dr. R. D. R. Perera, Assistant Secretary to the President R. A. Ruwanpathirana, and several Association members including M. R. Dissanayake, O. N. S. Amarasinghe, and G. W. Thissa Dayananda.

The discussion reflected ongoing efforts to formalize and expand cooperation mechanisms between Sri Lankan and Japanese institutions, with the Association positioning itself as a key vehicle for strengthening people-to-people and organizational connections between the two nations.
