Sri Lanka Marines Corps personnel join world’s largest maritime exercise in Hawaii

Sri Lanka Marine Corps personnel have taken part in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise currently being held in Hawaii, alongside military forces from 28 other countries.The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka said the participation reflects growing cooperation between Sri Lanka and Indo-Pacific partner nations. The multinational maritime exercise, described as the world’s largest of its kind, brings together naval and marine forces to enhance coordination and readiness.During the exercise, Sri Lankan Marines engaged in training with the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps and other international forces in areas including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, urban search and rescue, helicopter operations, and responses to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) incidents.The Embassy noted that the joint training will help improve interoperability among participating forces and strengthen the capacity of partner countries to respond to emergencies and regional crises.The exercise is part of broader efforts by Indo-Pacific nations to build stronger partnerships and maintain preparedness for humanitarian and security challenges.
