Sri Lanka Media XI secured a convincing seven-wicket win over India Media XI in a friendly cricket match played at St. Benedict's College Ground in Colombo on Friday. The contest was affected by rain, which reduced India Media XI's innings to 12 overs after they won the toss and elected to bat first.
India Media XI finished with 101 runs for four wickets from their abbreviated 12-over allocation. S. Malhotra provided the backbone of the Indian innings with 41 runs from 33 balls, featuring eight boundaries, while S. Banerjee contributed 22 off 17 deliveries. Sri Lanka's bowling attack was shared among three bowlers, with Dinesh Upendra, Chamila Karawita, and Andrew Fernando each taking a wicket. Souran Roy was dismissed via run-out during the Indian innings.
Chasing the target, Sri Lanka Media XI made short work of the requirement, reaching 102 for three in just 10.1 overs. Damith Weerasinghe spearheaded the successful chase with an unbeaten 60 off 31 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. The Sri Lankan batsman reached his half-century in just 30 deliveries.
