Malhotra provided the backbone of the Indian innings with 41 runs from 33 balls, featuring eight boundaries, while S. Banerjee contributed 22 off 17 deliveries. Sri Lanka's bowling attack was shared among three bowlers, with Dinesh Upendra, Chamila Karawita, and Andrew Fernando each taking a wicket.
