COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan government has restarted 26 large-scale healthcare infrastructure projects that had been halted under previous administrations due to the suspension of capital expenditure, as part of a broader strategy to transform the country’s public health sector and elevate healthcare services to internationally recognized standards.President Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasized that the government's objective extends beyond simple renovations and maintenance, aiming instead to build a healthcare system that delivers high-quality, efficient and technologically advanced services to all citizens. He assured that the government is prepared to allocate the necessary funding to achieve this goal.The President made these remarks during a pre-budget discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday (July 8), where progress achieved under the 2026 budget allocations for the Ministry of Health and Mass Media was reviewed, alongside discussions on priorities and funding requirements for the 2027 Budget.
