Deloitte Sri Lanka served as strategic partner at the Sri Lanka Corporate Director Summit 2026, where over 350 board leaders and international experts convened to discuss emerging governance challenges including artificial intelligence adoption and digital risk management.
The Sri Lanka Corporate Director Summit 2026, organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, brought together more than 350 board directors, senior business leaders and governance professionals alongside over 15 international thought leaders. The event marked 25 years of the institute's work in advancing corporate governance standards within the country. Held under the theme "Future-Ready Sri Lankan Boards – From Compliance to Sustainable Growth," the summit addressed critical issues shaping modern boardroom agendas.
Deloitte Sri Lanka contributed significantly to the programme through keynote presentations, panel discussions and moderation of key sessions. Duleesha Kulasooriya, Asia Pacific Innovation Leader at Deloitte Center for the Edge, delivered the keynote address on governing artificial intelligence and cybersecurity risks. He argued that organisations face competitive disadvantages by not adopting AI, while emphasising that leadership ability to learn and adapt matters more than geographic location. Kulasooriya identified curiosity, curation and courage as essential leadership qualities and stressed that good governance is critical to enabling responsible innovation.
Other Deloitte leaders contributed regional and local perspectives on pressing governance issues. Discussions centred on how boards can move beyond compliance to provide strategic direction, address talent and culture challenges, and support organisational resilience amid rapid technological and economic change. The summit highlighted the importance of effective communication, clear strategic direction and stakeholder trust in navigating uncertainty, particularly as organisations respond to skills shortages and technology-led transformation.
