Sri Lanka Cricket has announced 16-member squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of England, with Kusal Mendis leading both the ODI and T20I teams. The tour begins in mid-September with three matches in each format.
Sri Lanka Cricket has unveiled its squad selections for the forthcoming white-ball tour of England, appointing Kusal Mendis as captain across both formats. Charith Asalanka will serve as vice-captain in the ODI and T20I teams, according to both sources.
Former captain Dasun Shanaka has made a notable return to the international setup, earning recall to the ODI squad while maintaining his place in the T20I side. The selection represents part of Sri Lanka's broader preparation strategy ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Nine players have been selected for both formats, including Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera and Eshan Malinga. Format-specific selections include Lahiru Udara and Tharindu Rathnayake for the T20I squad, while Pavan Rathnayake, Sachindu Colombage, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka feature only in the ODI contingent.
The squad will depart for England on September 5. The T20I series is scheduled to begin on September 15 in Southampton, with subsequent matches in Cardiff and Manchester. The three-match ODI series follows from September 22 onwards, with matches in Durham, Leeds and London.
