Sri Lanka will host the 49th Mrs. Universe pageant from October 18-25, 2026, expecting over 123 international contestants and positioning itself as a premier global events destination.
Sri Lanka officially announced its hosting of the 49th Mrs. Universe pageant during a press conference at the Colombo Hilton, bringing together event organisers, sponsors, and tourism stakeholders. The week-long competition, scheduled for October 18-25, 2026, is expected to welcome more than 123 international contestants alongside their families, delegates, judges, and media representatives.
According to the National Director for Mrs. Universe Malith Ranasinghe, hosting the pageant represents a proud moment for the country and is anticipated to elevate Sri Lanka's international profile. Officials emphasised that the event will generate significant global media exposure while showcasing the nation's cultural heritage, natural attractions, and hospitality standards. Shivani Wedanayake, Chairperson of Mrs. World, expressed confidence that visiting delegates would experience Sri Lanka's renowned hospitality and tourism offerings.
Representatives from Sri Lanka Tourism and Hotel Management highlighted the economic and promotional benefits, noting that the pageant will provide international recognition for the country as a premier tourism and hospitality destination. Throughout the scheduled week, contestants are expected to participate in cultural experiences, tourism promotions, charitable initiatives, leadership programmes, and media events culminating in the Grand Finale.
The pageant is organised by Run For Win International (Private) Limited, the Official Franchise Holder of Mrs. Universe in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with local and international partners. Officials characterised the event as a significant milestone in Sri Lanka's tourism landscape and its capacity to host major international competitions.
