Sri Lanka will host its first FinTech Festival in November 2026, bringing together government officials, banking leaders, and technology innovators to showcase the country's digital finance capabilities and connect with regional and global markets.
Sri Lanka is positioning itself as an emerging hub for digital finance with the announcement of the inaugural FinTech Festival 2026. The event, organised by the FinTech Forum Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy, was officially unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday at the Amari Colombo hotel. Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eng. Eranga Weeraratne led the announcement alongside the launch of the festival's official website.
Scheduled for 2nd to 3rd November 2026 at Shangri-La Colombo, the two-day festival aims to gather senior leadership from government, banking, financial services, fintech and technology sectors. The programme will examine emerging areas reshaping global finance, including artificial intelligence applications, digital assets, cross-border payment systems, tokenisation, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity measures and financial inclusion strategies. The festival will also address specialised topics such as small and medium enterprise financing and tourism payments.
The festival structure includes three main components: a CEOs Night on the opening day designed for high-level discussions among banking and technology executives, the Sri Lanka FinTech Expo featuring keynote speeches and panel discussions on the second day, and FinTech Night concluding the event with networking opportunities for industry participants. Senior government officials and representatives from Sri Lanka's banking and fintech sectors attended the announcement ceremony, reflecting broad institutional support for the initiative.
