Sri Lanka has received Cabinet approval to host the 2026 World CIO 200 Awards & Roadshow and an accompanying Tech Marathon in September, events expected to draw over 400 senior technology executives from more than 50 countries.
Sri Lanka will serve as host for the 2026 World CIO 200 Awards & Roadshow, a four-day international programme scheduled for September. The Cabinet granted approval following a proposal by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Technology, recognizing the potential economic, tourism, investment and strategic advantages the events could bring to the nation.
The World CIO 200 programme is anticipated to attract more than 400 senior executives representing over 50 countries. Attendees will include chief information officers, digital transformation leaders, technology innovators, investors and other business professionals. The event will encompass an international conference, leadership forums, networking sessions designed to facilitate business connections, investment promotion initiatives, business-to-business meetings, an exhibition and an awards ceremony recognizing industry achievements.
Alongside the main conference, an international Tech Marathon will take place with objectives centered on fostering innovation, encouraging youth participation, developing sports tourism and promoting community engagement. The World CIO 200 Awards & Roadshow is organized globally by GEC Media Group, while HTP Global Technologies LLC will assume responsibility for managing and financing the Sri Lankan edition independently.
The dual events represent an opportunity for Sri Lanka to position itself within the global technology leadership landscape while generating potential benefits across multiple sectors including tourism, investment attraction and strategic international engagement.
