Sri Lanka has recorded 1.3 million tourist arrivals through late July 2026, with India emerging as the country's largest source market, according to official figures released by the tourism authority.

Sri Lanka has surpassed the 1.3 million tourist arrivals mark in the first seven months of 2026, signalling continued recovery and growth in the nation's tourism sector. According to data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, the country received 1,313,974 international visitors between January 1 and July 26, 2026.

The month of July has shown particularly strong performance, with 167,401 tourists visiting the island nation during the first 26 days of the month alone. This represents a significant portion of the monthly visitor flow and demonstrates sustained interest in Sri Lanka as a tourism destination.

India continues to be the primary source of tourists to Sri Lanka. During July, Indian visitors numbered 38,785, making India the leading market for that month. On an annual basis, Indian tourists have accounted for the highest volume, with 310,293 arrivals recorded from the beginning of the year through late July.
