Environment Minister Dr. Dammika Patabendi has represented Sri Lanka at the ongoing UNCCD international conference in Mongolia, outlining the country's climate change mechanisms and engaging in bilateral discussions with regional counterparts.

Sri Lanka is participating in the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) international conference currently taking place in Mongolia, with a delegation headed by Environment Minister Dr. Dammika Patabendi.

During his address at the summit, Minister Patabendi outlined the various mechanisms that Sri Lanka has established to address climate change challenges. The presentation focused on the country's framework for tackling environmental issues, contributing to broader international discussions on desertification and climate adaptation.

Beyond the main conference sessions, the Sri Lankan delegation has engaged in diplomatic discussions with regional partners. Minister Patabendi held bilateral meetings with India's Environment Minister, as well as the Agriculture Ministers of Iran and Fiji, indicating Sri Lanka's commitment to strengthening regional cooperation on environmental matters.

The minister has also indicated that further discussions with several United Nations officials are scheduled, suggesting ongoing engagement between Sri Lanka and international bodies on climate action initiatives.
