A Sri Lankan national was detained at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru after allegedly attempting to travel to London using a forged Canadian passport and fake immigration documents. The accused, identified as S. Subakaran, was intercepted by immigration officials after they detected discrepancies in his travel documents while he attempted to board an Air India flight to London.According to officials, Subakaran arrived at the airport on June 23 and completed departure formalities for a Singapore Airlines flight. However, instead of boarding the Singapore-bound flight, he allegedly concealed his original boarding pass and attempted to enter the departure immigration area of Terminal 2 to board Air India flight AI-133 to London at around 2 pm.The suspicious movement prompted immigration officials to conduct further checks.During the investigation, officials discovered that the accused had hidden his original Sri Lankan passport and was carrying a fake Canadian passport bearing the name “Chiwarajah Dachshan.”Authorities found that the Canadian passport was forged and contained fabricated immigration stamps allegedly intended to facilitate international travel. The forged documents were seized, and the accused was detained for further questioning.Immigration officials have launched a detailed investigation to determine how the forged passport was obtained and whether the accused was part of a larger document forgery or illegal immigration network.Further legal action will be initiated based on the findings of the investigation.Source: News Karnataka--Agencies
