Sri Lanka's national shooting team returned home with three gold, four silver and three bronze medals from competitions held in Indonesia and the Philippines, competing against athletes from nearly 40 countries.
Sri Lanka's national shooting team has returned from a successful campaign at two major international championships held across Southeast Asia, bringing back a combined haul of 10 medals. The contingent, representing the National Rifle Association of Sri Lanka (NRA-SL), competed against shooters from approximately 40 countries and secured three gold medals, four silver medals and three bronze medals across both events.
At the Bali Open IPSC Handgun & PCC Championship 2026 in Indonesia, the Sri Lankan team claimed six medals in total, comprising two gold, one silver and three bronze. A standout achievement came in the PCC Optics – Junior category, where young Sri Lankan shooters swept the podium by capturing first, second and third positions, showcasing the depth of emerging talent in the country's shooting programme.
The team's success continued at the Kadayawan Festival Shooting Championship 2026, known as the Senator Bato Cup, held in the Philippines. There, Sri Lankan shooters earned an additional four medals, including one gold and three silver medals, to complete their international campaign. The performance was widely celebrated upon the team's return to Bandaranaike International Airport, where officials including Air Vice Marshal Vajira Senadheera, president of the National Rifle Association of Sri Lanka, gathered to welcome the athletes alongside their parents and association officials.
