Sri Lanka will hold its first-ever FinTech Festival on November 2-3, 2026, aimed at establishing the country as an emerging digital economic hub and attracting global investment to its growing financial technology sector.
The FinTech Forum Sri Lanka, in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy, will organize the country's inaugural FinTech Festival 2026 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo. According to organizers, the two-day event represents a significant milestone for Sri Lanka's efforts to gain international recognition in the financial technology space and position itself as a competitive digital economy hub within Asia.
The festival, themed "Building Capacity and Creating Opportunities to scale Sri Lanka's Digital Future," will bring together fintech companies, banking institutions, government officials, international investors, and technology partners. Channa de Silva, Chairman of FinTech Forum Sri Lanka, stated that the event aims to demonstrate the country's ambitions to establish itself as a recognized FinTech brand while connecting the local ecosystem to global opportunities. The festival will leverage what organizers describe as existing strengths, including established payment infrastructure and a developing regulatory environment.
The programme will unfold across two distinct phases. On November 2, an exclusive CEOs Night will convene approximately 120 senior stakeholders, including bank executives, fintech leaders, Central Bank officials, and government representatives. The following day, the main Sri Lanka FinTech Expo will host over 500 participants for a full-day conference featuring keynote speakers, expert panel discussions, and an exhibition of fintech solutions. The event will conclude with a FinTech Night networking reception and awards ceremony.
Organizers emphasized that the festival differs from conventional industry conferences by positioning itself as a gateway for Sri Lanka to showcase its digital capabilities and attract talent and investment into its growing fintech network.
