A 60-foot statue of Christ, the largest in Sri Lanka, was officially blessed and opened for public veneration at a ceremony in Seeduwa yesterday under the patronage of Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

A significant religious landmark was inaugurated in Sri Lanka with the blessing and unveiling of the country's largest Christ statue. The 60-foot-high monument, constructed from white iron, is located within the Supuwan Arana premises in Seeduwa and is now open to the public for veneration.

The statue was formally blessed by Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, who presided over the ceremony. According to the event organizers, the design and construction of the monument were undertaken according to an artistic concept developed by Reverend Darrel, the administrator of Supuwan Arana.

The unveiling drew considerable participation from members of the multi-faith community. Buddhist monks, priests, nuns, and a large gathering of devotees attended the ceremony, reflecting broader community involvement in the religious milestone.
