Sri Lanka received USD 695 million in workers’ remittances in June 2026, according to the latest figures released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).According to the report, foreign remittances received in May were recorded at USD 847 million.Accordingly, last month has seen a significant decrease of USD 152 million in worker remittances compared to the month of May.Meanwhile, the Central Bank stated that remittances sent to the country by migrant workers from January to June 2026 amounted to USD 4.6 billion.The report further notes that this represents a 23.2 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.Furthermore, the report states that Sri Lanka earned USD 151.1 million in tourism revenue during June 2026.However, tourism earnings for June 2025 stood at USD 169.5 million, according to the Central Bank.
