Sonal Dinusha and Pasindu Sooriyabandara have secured significant improvements in ICC Test rankings after their respective performances in the second Test between Sri Lanka and India in Colombo.
Sri Lankan batsmen have achieved notable career milestones in the latest ICC Men's Test Player Rankings following their display against India in the World Test Championship series. Sonal Dinusha reached a career-best 25th position after scoring consecutive centuries in the second Test in Colombo. The 25-year-old, who has played five Tests to date, currently maintains an impressive average of 86.57.
Particularly striking is the rise of Pasindu Sooriyabandara, who climbed 170 places to claim 74th position in the rankings. Playing only his second Test match, Sooriyabandara contributed 80 and 92 runs across the two innings, demonstrating strong form at the international level. Additionally, Sri Lankan middle-order batter Kamindu Mendis has returned to the top 10 rankings following a half-century in the second innings against India.
The performances have not been limited to the Sri Lankan side. Indian batsman Devdutt Padikkal advanced five places to reach 54th position after scoring 117 in the first innings, while fellow Indian batter Dhruv Jurel moved from 83rd to 65th following an unbeaten 115. The latest rankings update incorporates all results from the second Test match held in Colombo.
