COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology has warned that wind speeds could increase to 50–60 km/h in the sea areas off the coast from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Mannar to Chilaw via Puttalam.The warning was issued in an advisory on strong winds and rough seas.In the remaining sea areas around the island, wind speeds may also increase to up to 50 km/h.Wave heights in the sea areas from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo are expected to reach between 2 and 2.5 metres.The Department of Meteorology has advised the fishing and maritime communities to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
