Police have arrested a 24-year-old Seeduwa resident on suspicion of providing logistical support for a fatal shooting that occurred during a birthday celebration in Wattala last week.
Authorities have apprehended a 24-year-old man from Seeduwa in connection with a shooting incident that claimed a life during a birthday party in the Wattala area. The Western Province North Crimes Division took the suspect into custody on July 29, following a week-long investigation into the July 23 incident at Kadirana Palliayawatta.
According to police statements, the suspect is accused of facilitating the crime rather than carrying it out directly. Investigators allege that he used his personal bank account to withdraw funds specifically to rent a vehicle that was subsequently used by the actual perpetrators during the shooting. This financial involvement formed the key evidence leading to his arrest.
The Western Province North Crimes Division continues to investigate the case as authorities work to establish the full scope of the suspect's involvement and identify other individuals connected to the incident. Police have not yet released additional details regarding the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the confrontation that led to the fatal shooting.
