Police have arrested a 53-year-old resident of Pitakotte following a raid in Mirihana where counterfeit currency notes and printing equipment were recovered.

The Western Province South Crime Division has apprehended a suspect allegedly involved in producing fake currency notes. Acting on intelligence gathered by officers, police conducted a raid on Kotte Road in Mirihana and took the 53-year-old into custody.

During the operation, authorities recovered a total of 14 counterfeit notes in various denominations, including seven Rs. 5,000 notes, six Rs. 1,000 notes, and one Rs. 500 note. Police also seized equipment believed to be used in the counterfeiting operation, including a computer, scanner, and several other items.

The suspect, who is a resident of Pitakotte, was scheduled to appear before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court on September 9 to face charges related to the alleged counterfeiting operation.
