A 39-year-old Vavuniya resident has been taken into custody following the seizure of crystal methamphetamine during a police operation in the district.

Law enforcement officials arrested a 39-year-old man in the Sobalapuliyankulam area of Vavuniya after discovering a significant quantity of crystal methamphetamine, locally referred to as 'Ice', in his possession. The seizure totaled 100 grams and 310 milligrams of the controlled substance.

The arrest came as the result of a Friday operation conducted by officers from Poovarasankulam Police Station, who acted on information received prior to the raid. The suspect, a local resident of Vavuniya, was apprehended during the enforcement action.
