Police have arrested a 23-year-old man linked to a July 23 shooting incident in Dematagoda, with crystal methamphetamine recovered during the operation. A second suspect is also in custody.

Borella Police have arrested a suspect connected to an attempted shooting and murder incident that occurred in Kuppiyawatta, Dematagoda, on July 23. The 23-year-old resident of Borella was apprehended during a raid conducted in the Lake Drive area, according to police statements.

During the arrest operation, officers recovered 10 packets of crystal methamphetamine totalling 900 milligrams from the suspect. Police say the individual is believed to have acted as the motorcycle rider in the shooting incident, which involved two unidentified assailants who attempted to kill a person during the attack.

A second suspect, also a 24-year-old Borella resident, was taken into custody during the same operation. Police are continuing investigations to establish whether this individual had involvement in the shooting itself. Authorities have not yet released details about the motive for the shooting or identified the intended target.
