Sri Lankan authorities have arrested two individuals linked to organized drug trafficking networks in Horana, seizing significant quantities of narcotics and cash during separate operations.
The Police Special Task Force has arrested a suspect connected to drug trafficking operations run by overseas-based criminals identified as "Kudu Salindu" and "Dubai Tharanga." During the arrest in Horana, authorities recovered 1.4 grams of ICE, commonly known as crystal methamphetamine, along with 89 narcotic pills from the suspect's possession.
In a separate operation conducted by the same task force, police apprehended another individual linked to a large-scale drug trafficking network operated by a trafficker named "Rasika." This arrest resulted in significantly larger seizures, with authorities recovering 278.7 grams of Hashish, 22.5 grams of Kush, 17.2 grams of Heroin, and 4,650 narcotic pills. Police also confiscated Rs. 1,610,950 in cash from this suspect.
The coordinated operations underscore ongoing efforts by Sri Lankan law enforcement to dismantle organized drug trafficking networks operating both domestically and internationally. The seizures represent narcotics across multiple drug categories, indicating diversified supply chains within these criminal organizations.
