A discussion meeting to inquire about the challenges faced by self-employed entrepreneurs and business investors in Batticaloa District was held in Batticaloa yesterday (30). The discussion was organized by Batticaloa District Government Agent Jasrina Yuleka Muralitharan and chaired by the Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnethi at the Batticaloa Old District Secretariat Conference Hall. Many self-employed entrepreneurs and business investors from Batticaloa District participated in the meeting and Minister Sunil Handunnethi inquired about the challenges faced by business investors and self-employed entrepreneurs. During this meeting, several shortcomings such as shortage of machinery, financial difficulties in purchasing machinery, lack of market opportunities in terms of space, etc. were presented, and methods to address these shortcomings were discussed in detail. At this meeting, the Minister said that arrangements have been made through the Ministry to take action to develop self-employed entrepreneurs by providing low-interest loans through private banks. The self-employed entrepreneurs who participated in the discussion also showed their local products to the Minister.
