Sri Lankan table tennis player Taavi Samaraweera claimed a silver medal in the Under-11 Singles category at the WTT Youth Contender 2026 in Croatia, marking his fifth consecutive final appearance in the category this year.

Taavi Samaraweera, Sri Lanka's emerging table tennis talent, captured the silver medal in the Under-11 Singles competition at the WTT Youth Contender 2026 held in Varaždin, Croatia from August 29 to 31. The tournament, sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), serves as an official World Youth Ranking event and attracts competitive young players from across the globe.

The achievement represents a significant milestone in Samaraweera's 2026 campaign. His progression to the Under-11 Singles final in Croatia marked his fifth consecutive appearance in a final at WTT Youth Contender tournaments this year. Over the course of 2026, Samaraweera has accumulated four gold medals in the Under-11 category through victories in Qatar, Bahrain, Kosovo and Slovenia, complemented by the recent silver finish in Croatia.

Beyond his performances in the Under-11 division, Samaraweera also demonstrated competitive ability in the Under-13 Singles category at this year's tournaments, reaching the quarter-finals stage in Croatia and securing three podium finishes across the year, including a silver medal in Kosovo and bronze medals in Norway and Slovenia.
