A 26-year-old youth has drowned in the Kalvilan pond located in the Kalvilan Grama Niladhari division of the Mullaitivu - Thunukkai Divisional Secretariat Division.
It is reported that the incident took place yesterday (25.06.2026).

The youth, who had gone fishing for bait at around 3.00 pm yesterday (25), did not return home and his father went in search of him.
Following this, the body of the youth was recovered from the Kalvilan pond this morning (26).
The deceased has been identified as Kannaiya Anparasan (aged 26) from the Kalvilan area.
It is also suspected that the deceased youth had epilepsy and may have fallen into the pond and died due to a seizure while fishing. Police are conducting further investigations into this incident. Further information - Shaan
