Legal action has been taken by the Pradeshiya Sabha against two people who illegally dumped garbage on the roadsides in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Vavuniya South Tamil Pradeshiya Sabha. As garbage was continuously being dumped on the roadsides in the said areas, the Pradeshiya Sabha had installed surveillance cameras (CCTV). Strict action In this situation, two people who were throwing garbage on the road were caught on this CCTV camera. The Vavuniya South Tamil Pradeshiya Sabha immediately took legal action against the two who were identified based on the camera footage. Accordingly, a fine of Rs. 2000 has been imposed on both the accused. The Pradeshiya Sabha has stated that if such activities of polluting public places continue, the fine amount will be increased further in the future. In addition, the council administration has warned that strict action will be taken to control such criminal acts and maintain public health.
