The Shoppes at City of Dreams Sri Lanka has announced the arrival of Scope Cinemas Multiplex, a five-screen cinema featuring advanced technology and exclusive VIP halls set to launch on Level 10 before the end of 2026.

The Shoppes at City of Dreams Sri Lanka has announced a significant expansion with the planned opening of Scope Cinemas Multiplex, marking a major development for the integrated lifestyle destination that first opened to the public in August 2025. The multiplex, scheduled to launch on Level 10 before year-end 2026, will feature five standard screens alongside two exclusive VIP cinema halls, each with private lobbies and dedicated gourmet dining facilities.

According to operators, the cinema will introduce cinema technology and immersive viewing experiences previously unavailable in Sri Lanka's market. Kamal Munasinghe, Senior Vice President of Colombo Hotels and General Manager at Cinnamon Life, stated that the multiplex aligns with the original vision for The Shoppes as a destination combining retail, dining and entertainment. Naveed Cader, Chairman and CEO of Scope Cinemas, characterized the partnership as bringing international entertainment standards to local audiences.

The announcement arrives as The Shoppes prepares for its next phase of expansion. Currently, Levels 7 and 8 are operational, with plans to open the ground floor waterfront area and Levels 9 and 10. Beyond the cinema, upcoming developments include a new food court, expanded entertainment options and a nightlife venue. The destination's profile was recently elevated when it hosted the premiere event for Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July, which featured Sri Lanka's first Spider-Man-themed drone show.
