Colombo (News 1st) The main suspect, his wife and child have been arrested in Jaffna in connection with the incident in which a woman's body was recovered from a car parked in the Theldeniya area. They were arrested while on a bus traveling from Colombo to Jaffna. They were arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Nuwara Eliya Police, the Anti-Corruption Unit and the Criminal Investigation Department. Both suspects will be taken to their previous residence today for a search. The 43-year-old suspect and the 35-year-old woman are from the Pallekele area. The suspects arrested during this operation, which was carried out on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, will be handed over to the Nuwara Eliya Police for further investigations. The woman's body was recovered from a car parked near the Theldeniya Hospital on the evening of the 17th. The procedure at the Ampara Hospital Investigations revealed that the deceased was a 33-year-old woman from Weligama who worked as a doctor. An open verdict has been given in the autopsy conducted on her death. Police say that investigations are underway against the arrested suspect in the Gampaha, Pudukada, Tissamaharama, Kaduwela and Horana courts for corruption and fraud. The suspect is being tried at the Gampaha Magistrate's Court on charges of defrauding a total of 1.873 crore rupees by promising to marry her and illegally using a car. The suspect is being tried at the Pudukada No. 05 Court for defrauding another woman of 1.721 crore rupees by promising to marry her. A case has also been filed at the Pudukada Magistrate's Court for defrauding another woman of 1.376 crore rupees by promising to marry her. Abroad A case is being heard at the Tissamaharama Magistrate's Court against a suspect for allegedly defrauding 2.2 million rupees by claiming to import vehicles from the country. Another case is being heard at the Pudukada Magistrate's Court for allegedly defrauding more than 4.2 million rupees by claiming to send people abroad. In addition to these, police said that cases are also being heard against the suspect at the Criminal Investigation Department, Pudukada, Kaduwela and Horana courts.
