The Seoul Central District Court has sentenced Kim Geun-hee, the wife of former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and former first lady, to seven years in prison on corruption and bribery charges. She was found guilty of using her presidential power to bribe a construction company president, including 100 million won ($64,750) in luxury jewelry, a Christian Dior handbag and a gold turtle, in exchange for political favors and government jobs. The court also ordered the confiscation of all bribes and fined her 64.8 million won ($42,000). Kim Geun-hee was already sentenced to four years in prison in April for stock embezzlement, and now faces another corruption charge. Meanwhile, her husband, former President Yoon Suk-yeol, is already serving a life sentence for sending military drones into North Korea and declaring martial law in the country.
