Thirty-eight passengers were injured following a head-on collision between two private buses on Talalla Vajirawansha Mawatha along the Matara–Tangalle Road, yesterday morning (26), police said. The injured passengers were admitted to hospitals for treatment, with 25 of them taken to the Matara General Hospital and the others transferred to the Batheegama Hospital. The accident occurred around 7.45 a.m. involving a private bus travelling from Galle to Ampara and another operating on the Tangalle–Matara route. The collision temporarily disrupted traffic on the main Matara–Tangalle road as authorities took steps to clear the scene. Police said the cause of the accident had not yet been established and investigations were underway. by Norman Palihawadane
