Voting for the local authority elections began islandwide today (06) at 7.00 am. Voters in the Trincomalee district voted in a very free manner from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm.
A total of 68% voting has taken place in the Trincomalee district, said the Trincomalee Governor and Returning Officer, W.G.M. Hemantha Kumara.
He added that the counting of votes will begin at 129 stations following the completion of voting at 321 polling stations in the Trincomalee district.
