Two people have been injured after a small van collided with a tree in the Poonagar area under the Echilampattu police division in Trincomalee, police said.
The accident took place this morning (Saturday 27). Two people, aged 35 and 17, from the Pattanichudu area in Vavuniya, were injured while travelling in the van.
The injured were first admitted to the Echilampattu Hospital and later transferred to the Trincomalee General Hospital for further treatment.
According to initial investigations, it is reported that the van may have veered off the road and collided with a tree due to the driver’s drowsiness.
The Echilampattu Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
