A luxury vehicle veered off the Waskaduwa-Galle Road and struck three pedestrians on Wednesday, with police suspecting driver fatigue as the cause.
A luxury car travelling between Colombo and Kalutara struck three pedestrians on the Waskaduwa-Galle Road, leaving two hospitalised and one with injuries, according to police reports.
The incident occurred when the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, hit the three pedestrians, and subsequently collided with two roadside boundary posts before leaving the roadway entirely. Police have indicated that preliminary investigations suggest the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, though this assessment remains under investigation.
The driver has been arrested and is scheduled to appear before the Kalutara Magistrate's Court in connection with the incident.
