Police have apprehended three suspects in relation to a deadly shooting at an event hall in Wattala last month. The arrests include the alleged shooter, the getaway driver, and an accomplice.
Three individuals have been taken into custody following a fatal shooting that occurred at an event hall in Kadirana Palliyawatta, Wattala on July 23rd. According to police, the arrested suspects are aged 26, 35, and 36, with the three coming from separate locations across the country: Jinthupitiya, Matale, and Kaduwela.
The arrests represent a significant development in the investigation into the shooting incident. Police identified the three individuals as having played distinct roles in the crime—one allegedly served as the gunman, another as the driver of the vehicle used in the attack, and the third as someone who provided assistance to those involved in carrying out the shooting.
The victim, who was attending a gathering at the event hall at the time of the incident, was fatally shot during the attack. The Western Province North Crimes Division has taken charge of the ongoing investigation and is conducting further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the motives of those involved.
