The event to provide learning materials to students affected by the ‘Tithva’ cyclone was held yesterday (26) at the Kathiraveli Wigneswara Vidyalaya. The event, organized by the Batticaloa Sri Lanka Red Cross Society and led by its President K. Wimalanathan, aimed to ensure that the educational activities of the students affected by the cyclone continue without interruption. The event began with the welcoming of the guests, hoisting of the national flag, playing the national anthem and lighting of the auspicious lamp. Later, the guests who attended delivered speeches and the students were provided with learning materials. This assistance was provided considering the welfare of selected students studying in the ‘Tithva’ cyclone-affected Katiraveli Wigneswara Vidyalaya, Balsenai Tamil Maha Vidyalaya and Vatavan School in the Vakarai area. The event was attended by Vakarai Zone Deputy Director of Educational Development N. Nesagajendran, Vakarai Divisional Secretary K. Many others including Amalini participated.
