Tri-forces launch dengue prevention programme in Western Province

Actively contributing to the national effort to combat the dengue menace, a special dengue prevention programme with the full participation of the Tri-Forces commenced this morning (04), centred in the Western Province.The Ministry of Defence stated that arrangements have been made to implement this comprehensive public health programme, focusing on institutions and surrounding areas throughout the Western Province.Accordingly, activities such as cleaning campaigns, identification and destruction of mosquito breeding sites, clearing of blocked drainage systems, and field-level awareness programmes to educate communities in high-risk areas will be carried out.The programme has been organised by the Ministry of Defence under special instructions from the President and under the direct supervision of Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd).
