A 65-year-old cyclist and a 25-year-old motorcyclist have died in two unrelated road accidents on the island, police confirmed.
Two fatal road accidents involving motorcycles occurred in different parts of Sri Lanka, resulting in deaths in each incident.
In the first accident, a motorcycle and bicycle collided in Ambalanwatta, Galle. Both the motorcyclist and cyclist sustained injuries and were transported to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment. The cyclist, a 65-year-old from Ambalanwatta, subsequently died from his injuries while hospitalized.
Separately, a 25-year-old motorcyclist from Weerakodiyana was killed in the Thambagalla area of Madampe when his motorcycle struck a lorry. Police did not provide additional details regarding the circumstances of this second collision.
Authorities have launched investigations into both accidents to determine the exact causes and circumstances surrounding each incident.
