Police have arrested two suspects aged 20 and 23 for allegedly aiding and abetting a fatal shooting in Mount Lavinia on August 15, with investigators revealing one suspect's involvement in a previous shooting incident.
Law enforcement authorities have apprehended two individuals suspected of assisting in the fatal shooting of a person on Huludagoda Road in Mount Lavinia on August 15. The Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau arrested the suspects during the night of August 19 in the Temples Road area, following leads developed during their ongoing investigation into the incident.
According to police statements, the two men, residents of the Mount Lavinia area aged 20 and 23 respectively, are accused of aiding and abetting the attack. The original shooting involved two assailants who arrived on a motorcycle, discharged firearms at the victim, and subsequently fled the scene. The arrested individuals were presented before court and remanded in custody until August 28 as inquiries continue.
Investigators have additionally uncovered that one of the newly arrested suspects had allegedly provided assistance in a separate shooting incident that occurred on Sylvester Road in Mount Lavinia on May 5, 2025. This connection has expanded the scope of the ongoing investigation. Several other individuals, including a primary suspect and a female suspect, have also been taken into custody in relation to these cases as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding both incidents.
