Police have apprehended two suspects accused of aiding and abetting a shooting incident in Ratmalana last month, with one found carrying crystal methamphetamine.

The Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau has arrested two individuals suspected of providing assistance in a shooting near Kandawala Junction in Ratmalana on August 1. The arrests, made on August 13, followed an investigation into the incident that took place within the Ratmalana Police Division.

According to police, the suspects, both residents of the Dehiwala area aged 41 and 48, played supporting roles in the shooting. One was apprehended in Ratmalana while the other was detained in the Dehiwala area. During the arrest in Ratmalana, officers recovered 22 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Ice', from one of the suspects.

Investigations revealed that the pair allegedly facilitated the shooting by transporting firearms to the location and subsequently providing the shooter with shelter to evade capture. The Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau continues its inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the involvement of other potential parties.
