The general meeting of the Northern Province Fishermen's Federation has been held in Jaffna. This meeting was organized today (27.06.2026) at a private hotel in Jaffna under the chairmanship of Vice President Anthony Albert. The problems of the fishermen were discussed during this meeting and it has been decided to launch a major national struggle as the new government has not put forward any solutions to the problems of the fishermen. Representatives of the fishermen of the Northern Province from the districts of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Mannar participated in today's general meeting and the organizer of the National Fishermen's Cooperation Movement, Keman Kumara, participated as the chief guest. Furthermore, at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekhar also participated and held discussions with the representatives of the fishermen.
