Two powerful earthquakes have struck Venezuela, causing widespread devastation. The natural disaster has killed at least 188 people and injured more than 1,000. Rescue efforts are underway to rescue more than 200 people trapped under the rubble. The quakes, centered near the city of Morón on Venezuela's Caribbean coast, measured 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale. They are considered the worst earthquakes to hit Venezuela in a century. (a)
