The death toll from the earthquake in Venezuela has reportedly risen to 589.
According to foreign media reports, about 2,980 people have been injured and hundreds more are suspected to be trapped in the rubble of buildings.
Earlier official reports had stated that 235 people had died and 4,300 were injured.
However, it is reported that foreigners were also among the victims of the earthquake.
The country's Foreign Ministry confirmed that three Spanish citizens who were staying in Venezuela had died in the earthquake, and that no information has been received about 99 others so far.
