The final rites of veteran Sri Lankan singer Mariazelle Goonetilleke will be held on July 13 at the Borella General Cemetery.Her remains will lie in state at a private funeral parlour in Borella from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on the same day, allowing the public to pay their final respects.Goonetilleke passed away in the early hours of today (10) at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital, where she had been receiving treatment following a prolonged illness. She was 68 years old at the time of her passing.She was known for several popular songs, including “Kandy Lamissi,” and remained a respected figure in the local music industry throughout her career.
