Priyankara Perera, a prominent figure in Sri Lankan music and cinema, has passed away at the age of 64 while undergoing treatment at a Colombo hospital.

Priyankara Perera, a celebrated singer and actor in Sri Lanka's entertainment sector, died on September 1 at the National Hospital in Colombo, according to hospital sources. He was 64 years old at the time of his death.

Perera had built a distinguished career spanning both music and film. Following in the footsteps of his father, the well-known singer Milton Perera, he established himself as a recognizable performer in the country's music industry. During his career, he performed numerous popular songs and also took on acting roles in Sri Lankan films and television dramas.

Perera had been experiencing health difficulties prior to his passing. He was receiving medical treatment at the National Hospital when he died, bringing an end to a career that had contributed significantly to Sri Lanka's entertainment landscape across multiple decades.
