Vietcombank has partnered with global engineering firm Virtusa to develop a next-generation digital banking platform designed to transform corporate client services across Vietnam. The multi-year project, officially launched in July, represents the largest technology undertaking in the bank's history.
Vietnam's largest state-owned commercial bank, Vietcombank, has entered into a strategic partnership with Virtusa Corporation to construct an advanced corporate digital banking platform. The project, which officially commenced on July 30 in Hanoi, aims to replace the bank's legacy systems with cloud-native infrastructure that prioritizes artificial intelligence capabilities and mobile-first functionality.
The new platform, named VCB Corporate DigiBank, will serve mid-sized and large corporate clients across the region through unified web and mobile channels. According to Vietcombank's leadership, the initiative represents far more than a routine technology upgrade, instead constituting a comprehensive overhaul of the bank's digital operations. The initial rollout will concentrate on modernizing account management and payment processing, with subsequent phases expanding to include lending, trade finance, foreign exchange services, and investment products.
Virtusa, drawing on more than 25 years of platform engineering experience, will implement a collaborative development model that ensures Vietcombank maintains full ownership of the resulting technology and intellectual property. The partnership includes a structured knowledge transfer framework intended to equip Vietcombank's internal teams to independently manage, operate, and expand the platform in future years. Vietcombank's deputy CEO emphasized the initiative's broader significance, describing it as part of efforts to accelerate digital transformation across Vietnam's business community.
