A 16-year-old student has died and another student has been seriously injured in an accident that occurred in the Makuluduwa area of Piliyandala today, the Piliyandala Police said.
The deceased in the accident has been identified as a resident of the Niwanthidiya area of Piliyandala.
The motorcycle lost control while trying to overtake a three-wheeler and crashed into a nearby telephone pole.
Furthermore, investigations have revealed that the deceased student did not have a driving license and the seriously injured student who was riding behind was not wearing a helmet.
Hospital sources have stated that the student who was riding the motorcycle had died on admission to the Piliyandala District Hospital.
